As a Field Hardware Specialist, you are the person who builds the physical world our vision systems live in. Camera rigs, lighting setups and mounting structures all need to survive a demanding food production environment (heat, moisture, cleaning cycles and all) while still delivering a perfect image every single time. You'll be the second dedicated hardware specialist at Polysense, joining an existing hardware track and helping it scale.
A great vision system is only as good as the hardware it's built on. You make sure ours holds up, on the factory floor, every day.
💼 What you’ll be doing
01. Hardware design & prototyping
Design hardware frameworks to integrate our vision systems into production environments that were never built with cameras in mind.
Select camera configurations and lighting setups that hold up under real factory conditions, not just in a test rig.
Translate concepts into 2D and 3D CAD blueprints, then bring them to life through prototyping. You go from sketch to working part yourself.
Key point:
This is where the system starts. If the hardware concept is wrong, nothing downstream works. You get it right from the first draft.
02. Build & integration
Get hands-on: machining, assembling and building electrical boxes to food industry standards.
Partner closely with the software team so the hardware and the vision system work together from day one, not as an afterthought bolted on later.
Own your projects end to end while staying connected with the team on progress, blockers and decisions.
Key point:
You're not handing off a design and waiting. You build it, test it and make sure it actually works on site.
03. Sourcing & practical delivery
Source materials and components and work directly with suppliers to get what you need, when you need it.
Keep practicality front of mind: a beautiful design that can't be built, sourced or maintained on a factory floor isn't a solution.
Key point:
Good hardware engineering in this role isn't just clever. It has to be buildable, sourceable and rugged enough for daily use in a food plant.
💪 What you bring
Background & Experience
Plus 2 years of relevant experience in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics or a related field.
Solid CAD skills: SolidWorks, AutoCAD or Fusion 360.
Hands-on prototyping experience: machining, 3D printing, assembly and similar.
Skills & Mindset
You thrive on turning blueprints into functioning frames. The gap between design and working hardware is where you do your best work.
Independent and proactive: you're comfortable joining as the second dedicated hardware specialist at Polysense and helping the hardware function grow from here.
Practical by nature: you weigh cost, sourcing and maintainability alongside the engineering, not after it.
Nice to have
Experience building electrical boxes to food industry standards.
Some welding skills, useful but not a core requirement.
