Security & Infrastructure Engineer
Hybrid · Ghent (BE office)
Polysense builds operational intelligence software for food manufacturers. Companies like Agristo, Lotus Biscoff, and La Lorraine Bakery Group already run on it.
Our customers are large enterprises, and those customers run security reviews before they buy. Not just a policy PDF, but real cyber security and resilience throughout the solution and our organisation. That's the technical bar this role exists to clear.
As our Security & Infrastructure Engineer, you own two things.
First, the hands-on technical side of getting us to security compliance. Owning Vanta, building out ISO 27001, then SOC 2: real controls and real infrastructure, not just legal paperwork.
You set the standard and build from scratch. Breaking, testing and learning as you go. You’ll also act as a sparring partner and advisor to our CTO/Co-founder who you’ll report to directly.
Mission: build the technical security foundation that keeps Polysense viable with large enterprise customers, and become the owner who keeps engineering's operational load from piling back up.
💼 What you'll be doing
Security & compliance, hands-on Own Vanta, ISO 27001 first, then SOC 2. Real controls, not a rising percentage. Audit and legal are not your main focus.
IT & infrastructure, on call Engineering's front line: scaling our GPU infra for model training, a new internal tool that needs deploying, VPN access requests. You fix why it keeps happening, not just the ticket.
The longer-running stuff once the fires are out: kill wasted spend, fix what keeps breaking, automate what shouldn't need a human.
Systems over tickets: You own the systems, not just the tickets. Building increasingly agentic and AI-native solutions so you're not the bottleneck for everything.
The calls nobody else will make: New tools, vendor picks, prioritization decisions the team keeps circling on, you advise and decide together with the CTO/Co-founder.
Key point: you're not an auditor or a compliance lawyer. You're the technical builder behind the checkbox.
💪 What you bring Background & Experience
Genuine CS/engineering aptitude, you can script, debug, find root causes, and you're comfortable on the command line.
Nice-to-haves: cloud architecture (Azure), a compliance platform like Vanta, IT/networking fundamentals: cabling, wifi, firewalls.
Mindset & way of working:
Actively looking for more, not less: you're not coasting in a comfortable mid-level role; you want the harder, messier version of this job, compliance and hands-on infra both.
There's real room to grow here. Deeper into compliance/audit ownership, or toward senior infrastructure. We're not locking you into one lane.
🌟 What success looks like
✓ You own Vanta: you understand what "100% complete" actually means, not just the dashboard number
✓ ISO 27001 is moving toward certification; SOC 2 is queued up next
✓ By day 60, fewer requests are landing on engineering leadership directly
✓ By day 90, the root causes behind those requests are shrinking too, not just getting patched faster
✓ Tool and vendor decisions get made and stick, instead of stalling in endless debate
